Senior analyst Imran Yaqub Khan has made the sensational revelation thatopposition parties are mulling the option of making Maulana Fazlur Rehman asenator in the upcoming polls.
“PDM [Pakistan Democratic Movement] is thinking about the option ofyielding joint candidates in senate polls and making the alliance head,Maulana Fazlur Rehman, a member of senate so that he can make his fieryspeeches inside the Upper House,” the veteran journalist said on GNN’s show’Viewpoint’, adding that the other parties want the JUI-F leader inside aninstitute to control the possibility of mistrust inside the oppositionalliance.
Senior analyst Zafar Hilaly was of the view that holding senate polls viaopen ballot would set a good precedence. “The biggest problem with secretpolls is that members take money and vote for other parties,” he said.Listing another problem with secret poll, Zafar Hilaly said that manycandidates become senators by buying their seats.
