Intelligence cooperation with US, Foreign Office reveals official stance

ISLAMABAD: Spokesperson of the Foreign Office has said that Pakistan hadnot suspended any kind of cooperation including intelligence sharing withthe United States (US).

At his weekly briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, Dr. Muhammad Faisal saidthat both the countries were in contact regarding bilateral cooperation.

He, however; refrained from going into the details of the contact with theUS.

It merits mentioning that Defense Minister Khurram Dastagir in a statementhad said that Pakistan suspended every kind of cooperation with the US.

The spokesperson added that Tehreek-e-Taliban and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar werecarrying out attacks on Pakistan from Afghanistan’s soil.He further said that around 43 percent of Afghanistan was in the hands ofDaesh and terrorists.

Faisal added that Pakistan was committed for the elimination of terrorism.

Talking about the arrest of Chinese citizens involved in ATM scandal, hesaid Pakistan and China enjoyed time-tested relations.

He went on saying that a few incidents could not be made basis forimplementing ban on Chinese nationals.
