PTI Chairman Imran Khan, during today's hearing in Adiala Jail, has called for an open court trial in the cipher case, as per insider reports. He expressed concerns over potential poisoning through the jail's food and brought this issue to the attention of Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqernain.

In response, the judge noted that the trial within the jail was initiated due to security apprehensions raised by the suspect. It was revealed from sources that during the Tuesday hearing, Imran Khan sought permission to have home-cooked food, citing fears of being poisoned by the jail's meals. He reportedly conveyed to the judge, "The food here is not reliable; my life is at risk."

The judge, in turn, raised questions about the jail administration's responsibility for the food and questioned who would ensure the safety of food brought from outside the jail.

Imran Khan also voiced concerns about limited access to his legal counsel, stating that he and his lawyers were only allowed a weekly meeting of half an hour. He requested a more extensive meeting with his legal team to discuss all his cases.

In contrast, he pointed out that there was more freedom to meet lawyers in Attock Jail compared to the restrictions in Adiala Jail, as per sources familiar with the matter.
