US Vice President Mike Pence held important meeting with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan

WASHINGTON - US Vice President Mike Pence along with his delegation arrived in Turkey today to persuade Ankara to halt its operation against Kurdish terrorist group PKK in northeast Syria.

Shortly after arrival, he held a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara wherein Turkey’s ongoing anti-terror operation in northern Syria came under discussion.

Earlier, Turkey’s foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu held a meeting with the delegation including National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien and James Jeffrey, the U.S. special envoy for the anti-Daesh coalition.

Pence is leading a delegation including Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Robert O’Brien and James Jeffrey.

Turkey on 9th of this month launched Operation Peace Spring to eliminate terrorists from northern Syria in order to secure Turkey’s borders, aid in the safe return of Syrian refugees and ensure Syria’s territorial integrity.
