MULTAN: Mufti Abdul Qavi has on Tuesday appeared before a judicial magistrate after the issuance of non-bailable arrest warrants against him in the Qandeel Baloch murder case.
Abdul Qavi appeared before Sessions Judge Chaudhry Ameer Muhammed without lawyer.
The court asked him to appear again on Wednesday with legal representation, after which the court adjourned the hearing until tomorrow.
Talking to media after appearing before the court, he said that he has presented himself before the court, adding that he will accept whatever would be the decision of the court.
Earlier on on October 13, the court issued the non-bailable arrest warrant for Mufti Abdul Qavi in the Qandeel Baloch murder.
Qavi, who was heavily censured for clicking ‘selfie’ photographs with slain social media celebrity Qandeel, has been investigated in connection with her murder.
The cleric has repeatedly denied any involvement in Qandeel’s murder but had stated that he would present himself to the police for questioning upon being summoned.
Rising to fame through her Facebook videos, in which she danced, proposed to politicians and made bold statements against the cleric in attempts of bringing him to shame, she was eventually put to silence in July last year at the hands of her own brother who confessed to strangling her to death over the so-called ‘honor’ of the family.
