NEW YORK: Pakistan has drawn the attention of the United Nations to India’s escalatory actions on the Line of Control.

In letters addressed to the President of the UN Security Council Fode Seck and the Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi said that Indian Occupation troops in Kashmir launched artillery barrages last week on the Line of Control threatening regional peace and security.
The letters explained that this was the first use of such weapons in thirteen years which indicates Indian intention to escalate tensions.
Maleeha Lodhi also referred to India’s continued non-cooperative attitude and denial of access to the United Nations Military Observers Group for India and Pakistan that has been mandated to maintain peace and tranquility on the Line of Control and the Working Boundary.

She called upon the UN chief and the Security Council President that as the custodians of international peace and security the United Nations should take note of the continued ceasefire violations by India.
