The country's electricity generation touched new record high at 17720MW today at 3:00 pm.
According to spokesperson of Ministry of Water and Power, the highest generation recorded last year was 17430 megawatts.
He said the hydel component contributed 5240 megawatts, GENCOs 2901 megawatts while IPPs produced 9579 megawatts.
Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif has congratulated the nation and reiterated the government resolve to take every step to enhance production of electricity.
He said that addition of more power will further help in bridging the gap between demand and supply.
The Minister said that maximum relief is being passed on to the consumers.
