ISLAMABAD: (APP) Pakistan-Japan bilateral ties to be further enhanced

 

The Deputy Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi on Monday said that Pakistan and Japan are enjoying cordial relations and both the countries had desired to increase the cooperation in economic and social sectors.

 

He expressed these views while talking to Ambassador of Japan and Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JISCA) who called on him separately.

 

While talking to Japanese Ambassador Takashi Kurai, he said that Pakistan valued high its relations with Japan and desired to further strengthening its relations with Japan through enhanced economic and parliamentary cooperation.

 

He said that regional cooperation was imperative for development and progress among the Asian countries.

 

He was of the view that Pakistan and Japan could initiate joint ventures in diversified sectors including Information Technology (IT), trade, industry and infrastructure.

 

He stressed need to enhance volume of trade between two countries.

 

He said that there was a huge scope for enhancing trade and cooperation in diverse fields between the two countries.

 

He also stressed the need for exchanges of  Parliamentary, business community and cultural delegations.

 

Japanese Ambassador said that his government also wished to expand mutual cooperation between the two countries.

 

He admired Pakistan's role in the war against terrorism and said that Japan highly regarded the sacrifices rendered by the people of Pakistan and stood by them.

 

He said that Japan would continue supporting Pakistan in its endeavors regarding enhanced trade and economic cooperation with the regional countries.

 

Later, Chief Representative of JISCA Tojo met with the Deputy Speaker.

 

The Deputy Speaker said that Pakistan highly regarded Japan's aid and assistance programme in the poverty stricken areas especially development of water and sanitary infrastructure in District Abbottabad.

 

He appreciated Japanese support in education, health and poverty alleviation sectors for the underprivileged localities in the country.

 

Murtaza Javed Abbasi apprised him of government initiatives in providing basic amenities to the Hazara Division and said that JISCA support in this regard would be helpful in this regard.

 

He urged him to take special interest in the Hazara region and invited him to personally visit the area.

 

Mr. Toja expressed his gratitude on his kind remarks and said that JISCA was focusing on eradicating polio, improving human development, economic stability.

 

He also apprised the Deputy Speaker about the ongoing projects and future planning of the JISCA.
