Displaced people to be shifted to native areas along LoC soon: Farooq

MIRPUR (AJK): AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan on Saturday said that the people displaced due to unprovoked Indian firing across the Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) would be shifted back to their native areas from temporary camps.

Addressing to affectees of Barnala (Chhamb sector of the LoC) in the Bhimber district, he assured that the government would provide them more better amenities of life in their native areas.

The people residing in areas along the LoC He were moved to safer places because of the continuous unprovoked firing by the Indian troops from across the border, which was deliberately targeting the civilians, he added.

The AJK prime minister said the Federal Government had approved a Rs 5 billion relief package for the rehabilitation of the LoC affectees. “We have also released Rs 130 million from the state budget for the purpose,” he added.

He said the special package would be disbursed among the affected people in the next fiscal year’s budget.

Farooq Haider said the people living close to the LoC showed great courage and bravery in the face frequent unprovoked firing by Indian troops.

He said that the coward Indian occupational forces targeted the civilian populous areas at the LoC, including educational institutions, public transport and ambulances.

He said the people of AJK and Indian occupied Kashmir wholeheartedly support the armed forces of Pakistan during the recent tension with India.

He said the relief funds for martyrs, injured and damaged property due to Indian firing would be enhanced. The provision of health and education to the people living along the LoC was his government’s top priority, he added.

He said community bunkers would be constructed in educational institutions and villages along the LoC. First aid posts were also being set up in cooperation with community in the regions close to border to enable the affectees to receive first aid in emergencies, he added.

Haider appreciated the efforts of Ahmed Raza Qadri for improving the performance of the State Disaster Management Authority as a vibrant institution.
