“I am writing a letter to you for meaningful talks. I want to resolve the long-pending issue of the appointment of the CEC. I am sending the reorganized penal to you,” he added.

Earlier on January 10, the government and the opposition agreed to bring new names for the appointment of the Chief Election Commission (CEC) after deadlock.

Both parties had withdrawn their earlier proposed names. Now they will recommend new names to the parliamentary committee in next few days.

The sources also informed that a parliamentary committee meeting is likely to be held next week for the appointments of the CEC and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) members.
