Was Saudi Arabia involved in regime change operation against former PM Imran Khan government?

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has distanced itself from the recent allegations made by party leader Sher Afzal Marwat, suggesting Saudi Arabia's involvement in a supposed "regime change" conspiracy, as reported by ARY News.

PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan emphasized that Marwat's statement lacked factual grounds and diverged from the party's official stance. Hasan clarified that Marwat's remarks were made in a personal capacity and did not reflect the PTI's position on Saudi Arabia.

According to Hasan, PTI founder Imran Khan maintains a deep respect for the relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, considering the latter as one of Pakistan's closest brotherly nations.

Hasan further noted that Imran Khan shared a relationship of mutual respect with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.

It's noteworthy that Sher Afzal Marwat, known for his outspoken views within the PTI, alleged Saudi Arabia's involvement in a purported regime change operation in 2022, when the PTI government faced a vote of no-confidence.

Marwat made these claims during an appearance on a private TV channel, suggesting Saudi Arabia, along with the United States, played a role in toppling the Imran Khan-led government. These assertions arose amidst high-level Saudi delegations visiting Pakistan.
