ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has all the required creditionals to become a member of Nuclear Supplier Group (NSG), Lt General (R) Awais said on Monday.

Speaking as chief guest a seminar organized by the Strategic Vision Institute (SVI) on "South Asian Nuclear Doctrines Equilibrium and Strategic Stability", he said Pakistan should focus on building relations with the world.

The country should fully exploit the potentials of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) for gaining centrality in the region, he added.

Awais said, "We have never refrained from strategic dialogue with India" as it, in fact, was a must for regional stability.

SVI President Dr Zafar Iqbal Cheema said the focus of the debate was on maintaining peace and stability in South Asia. India had disturbed the strategic stability of the region as it had hegemonic designs.

Assistant Professor Zulfiqar Khan said that India was the largest importer of weapons in the region.

Assistant Prof Dr. Zafar Khan spoke on Indian and Pakistan's nuclear weapons and ballistic missile development while Associate Professor Dr Zafar Nawaz Jaspal of Quaid-i-Azam University presented his paper on "contemporary deterrence equilibrium in South Asia and future prospects". (APP)
