Former DIG martyred in Quetta: Police sources

QUETTA – A former Deputy Inspector General of Police was martyred inQuetta, police sources have revealed.

As per media report, unidentified attackers opened fire at him on ZarghoonRoad of the Balochistan’s capital city on Saturday.

Naeem Kakar, who was ex-DIG (Crime Branch), was rushed to Quetta’s CivilHospital in a critical condition but he could not survive.

Some seven years ago, Kakar survived a suicide bomb attack in which apolice constable was killed while 17 others, including three children,sustained injuries.

In April 2011, a suicide bomber in an explosive laden Pajero had rammedinto the residence of DIG investigation Wazir Khan Nasir. DIGInvestigation, DIG Crime Branch Naeem Kakar and their children were amongthe injured while houses of both top officials were completely destroyed inthe powerful blast which took place on Gulistan Road, also known as PoliceLines, just adjacent to the Inspector General Balochistan Police Office.
