The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken the step of contacting theInternational Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the conduct of the crowd atthe Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad during the Pakistan-India match inthe 2023 World Cup.

In an official statement shared on a social media platform, the PCB haslodged a formal complaint concerning what they describe as ‘inappropriatebehavior’ directed at the Pakistani players during the India-Pakistan clashthat took place on October 14, 2023, at the Ahmedabad stadium. The venuewas filled to capacity for this highly anticipated showdown, ultimatelyresulting in a seven-wicket victory for India.

Throughout the India-Pakistan encounter, the Pakistani team, known as theGreen Shirts, endured unwelcome chants from the spectators at the NarendraModi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Furthermore, the Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman,Mohammad Rizwan, faced religious chants after being dismissed by JaspritBumrah in the initial innings.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that an Indian lawyer named Vineet Jindalalso filed a complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC), thistime against Muhammad Rizwan. Jindal’s complaint was related to Rizwan’son-field display of offering Namaz (Islamic prayer) and expressing supportfor Gaza.

Muhammad Rizwan had previously dedicated his century to the people of Gazafollowing his match-winning century against Sri Lanka in the ICC World Cup2023. This particular action by Rizwan had triggered a significant reactionin the Indian media. However, the ICC decided not to take any action inresponse to these allegations, as Rizwan’s actions were deemed to have beenconducted in his personal capacity outside the field of play.
