WASHINGTON – US Vice President Mike Pence along with his delegation arrivedin Turkey today to persuade Ankara to halt its operation against Kurdishterrorist group PKK in northeast Syria.
Shortly after arrival, he held a meeting with Turkish President RecepTayyip Erdogan in Ankara wherein Turkey’s ongoing anti-terror operation innorthern Syria came under discussion.
Earlier, Turkey’s foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu held a meeting with thedelegation including National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien and JamesJeffrey, the U.S. special envoy for the anti-Daesh coalition.
Pence is leading a delegation including Secretary of State Mike Pompeo,Robert O’Brien and James Jeffrey.
Turkey on 9th of this month launched Operation Peace Spring to eliminateterrorists from northern Syria in order to secure Turkey’s borders, aid inthe safe return of Syrian refugees and ensure Syria’s territorial integrity.
