Maryam Nawaz summoned by Nawaz Sharif to London

Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), hascalled for his daughter Maryam Nawaz to come to London, according to ARYNews. Maryam Nawaz, who serves as the PML-N Chief Organizer, is expected totravel to London next week in response to her father’s summons.

Her stay in London is anticipated to last for a week, during which she willhold discussions with Nawaz Sharif. Sources from within the PML-N haveinformed ARY News that Maryam will brief her father about the party’s plansregarding his return to Pakistan. Additionally, they will engage inconsultations concerning political and constitutional matters.

It is reported that Nawaz Sharif will finalize the plan for his return toPakistan after Maryam’s visit. Following her return, the PML-N willformulate a plan for welcoming Nawaz Sharif back to Pakistan. FormerFinance Minister Ishaq Dar previously stated that there are no obstaclespreventing PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif from participating in elections. Hementioned that Article 62(1)(f), which reduced the disqualification periodto five years, was passed by the parliament and approved by the president.

According to Dar, this approval now makes Nawaz Sharif andIstehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) leader Jahangir Tareen eligible toparticipate in elections. However, Dar refrained from commenting on PPPchairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, emphasizing the consensus-baseddecision-making during the 17-month tenure of the PDM coalition government.

Former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently announced Nawaz Sharif’sscheduled return to Pakistan on October 21. He pledged a grand welcome forNawaz Sharif upon his arrival and expressed determination that Nawaz Sharifwould face the legal proceedings.

Shehbaz Sharif also criticized the circumstances surrounding NawazSharif’s removal from power and the alleged election rigging in the 2018general elections, emphasizing the decision to have Nawaz Sharif lead theelection campaign after consultations with senior party leadership.
