In an intelligence operation conducted in the Fizagat area of Swat, locatedin the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, the security forces successfullyeliminated a prominent figure within the outlawed TTP Swat organization.The individual in question, identified as Nek Mohammad, also known as Nekoand Umar, held a significant position within the TTP Swat and was closelyaffiliated with the former chief of the outlawed group, Mullah Fazlullah.
The operation that led to the elimination of this notorious terrorist was acollaborative effort between the Pakistan Army and the Counter-TerrorismDepartment. This joint operation was initiated based on valuableintelligence information received by the authorities.
Nek Mohammad’s involvement with the banned TTP Swat goes back to the earlydays of the group’s presence in Swat. He was known for leading a teamresponsible for brutal acts such as the flogging of women. Furthermore, hehad a history of being directly implicated in multiple terrorist attacksagainst security forces in the region.
In response to mounting pressure from Pakistani forces during OperationRah-e-Rast in 2009, Nek Mohammad fled to Afghanistan along with his family.However, he resurfaced in Pakistan earlier this year and resumed hisnefarious activities, which included targeting and killing policepersonnel, as well as engaging in extortion activities on behalf of theoutlawed TTP.
In June, he and his accomplices perpetrated a heinous act by brutallymurdering two police constables near Mingora Sabzi Mandi. This eventfurther underscored the threat posed by individuals like Nek Mohammadwithin the region
