Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq has revealed the threat of resigning twice ina month. PCB had entrusted Inzamam-ul-Haq with the role of Chief Selectoron August 7th. However, there were two instances where the former captainthreatened to resign, even after being selected for the series againstAfghanistan and the Asia Cup.
Disheartened, he expressed his intention to resign but later met with ChiefZaka Ashraf in a meeting, and matters were resolved.
According to Express News, Inzamam sought a hefty remuneration for athree-year contract, along with a monthly sum of more than 20 lakh rupees.A stamp was placed on the contract’s duration during negotiations with themanagement committee.
During the recent Asia Cup in Lahore, Inzamam expressed dissatisfactiononce again and had demanded complete authority to grant players NOCs forleagues.
Inzamam’s agents, including Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, representseveral national cricketers. The complete authority to appoint the ChiefSelector was not in the hands of the PCB to avoid conflicts of interest,and this led to Inzamam’s resignation threat due to differences in interests
