Pakistan FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi important statement after Israel – UAE peace deal and Palestine cause

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday reaffirmed its call for an independentPalestinian state under the United Nations’ (UN) resolutions, a few daysafter Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates inked peace deals to normaliseties with Israel.

Pakistan reaffirms stand on Palestine of [two] state solution as enshrinedin UN resolutions,” Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said in a tweet.

“Palestinian’s right to self determination is inalienable [and] we renewcall for establishment of independent State of Palestine on basis ofinternationally agreed parameters with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as capital,” headded.

According to the normalisation deallink,Israel has pledged to suspend its planned annexation of Palestinian landsin exchange for normalisation of ties with the UAE.

But Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed that did not mean Israel wasabandoning plans to annex the Jordan Valley and Jewish settlements acrossthe occupied West Bank.

The agreement was the product of lengthy discussions between Israel, theUAE and the United States that accelerated recently, White House officialssaid.
