NAB approves multiple inquiries against sitting and former lawmakers, bureaucrats

*ISLAMABAD – The National Accountability Bureau on Thursday approvedinquiries against some former and sitting lawmakers as well as bureaucrats.*

The inquiry was approved by NAB chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal.

The NAB chief has approved filing of a corruption reference against formerfederal minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Ghori. Ghori is facingcharges of more than 900 unlawful postings.

The anti-graft body has also ordered initiation of inquiries against formerfederal minister Khawaja Asif, former provincial irrigation minister ofSindh Zafar Ali Laghari, former MNA Abdul Hakeem Baloch, former MNA captain(retd) Muhammad Safdar, PTI leader Abdul Aleem Khan and others.

The accused are allegedly involved in inflicting heavy losses to thenational exchequer through misuse of power, embezzlement and corruption.

Many of the politicians, including Khawaja Asif and Aleem Khan, are facingthe charges of making suspicious transactions and having assets beyondtheir known income.

Former Vice Chancellor Punjab University Dr Mujahid Kamran is also on thelist of the accused.
