The National Accountability Bureau on Monday once again sought more timefor presenting its arguments in the pleas challenging PPP Co-Chairman AsifAli Zardari’s acquittal in bureau’s 25-year old reference.
A two-judge bench of Islamabad High Court headed by Chief Justice AtharMinallah and comprising Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan heard the appealslink on Monday.
At the start of the hearing, the anti-graft body sought more time forgiving its arguments in appeals link againstthe exoneration of former president Zardarilink the Ursus tractors deal, ARY Goldcase, Cotecna and the Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS) referenceslink.
Irked by NAB’s practice of seeking more time for its arguments, CJ Minallahremarked that it looked like that the bureau was interested in theproceedings of its appeals link. He warnedNAB link that the court was giving it the lastchance. If NAB link could not present itsarguments, then the court would assume that the anti-graft watchdog was notserious in pursuing its appeals link.
During last hearing on the appeals link onMay 14, the NAB link requested the IHC togrant it more time for bringing its arguments. But today the watchdog againsought more time which had annoyed CJ Minallah.
