KABUL – The U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan ReconciliationAmbassador Zalmay Khalilzad reacted to Taliban claims regarding the‘imposed war on Afghanistan’.
“We did not impose this war. Afghanistan has been at war for decades, attimes with each other. Tens of thousands of innocent civilians have died.Rather than another season of fighting, Afghans are demanding a new wayforward,” Ambassador Khalilzad said in a statement posted in his officialTwitter account.
Ambassador Khalilzad further added “The US entered peace talks b/c more waris not the answer. During talks I’ve proposed ways to reduce violence. Byrefusing to work w/ us to end the killing, the Talibs are prolonging it.Let Afghan people judge whether Talib statements encouraging more violenceis way forward.”
