ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan launched Naya Pakistan Housing Schemetoday under which one hundred and forty-one thousand residential units willbe constructed in the first phase.
Addressing the launching ceremony, this afternoon, he said 25,000 housingunits will be constructed in the federal capital, 1,10,000 in Balochistanand 6,000 in Azad Kashmir.
The Prime Minister said a revolving fund of five billion rupees has beenestablished to grant microcredit to poor people enabling them to have theirown house.
He said high rise residential buildings will be constructed for peopleliving in katchi abadis across Pakistan.
He said commercial buildings will also be constructed on city slum so thateconomic activity can be generated.
The Prime Minister said there are about 40 slums areas in Karachi only andno one has ever paid any attention to uplift poor people living there.
Imran Khan said a Chinese Company has offered to set-up a pre-fabricatedfactory in Pakistan with a capacity to construct one story in a week.
He said we are trying to involve private sector in the housing sector andfacilitate our youth to come forward in the construction arena.
