LAHORE: Significant Rise in the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases inPakistan as new cases emerge in Punjab and Sindh.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases rose to 193 in Pakistan, afterPunjab reported five new cases in the province on Tuesday.
”Five pilgrims who recently returned to DG Khan have tested positive forcoronavirus,” Provincial Health Minister Yasmin Rashid said whileaddressing a press conference. “All those testing positive have beenquarantined at a facility.”
“Right now there are 736 pilgrims from Taftan being monitored,” she said.
She also dismissed reports of the Punjab government hiding reports of thepatients.
The number of confirmed cases rose to 172 in Sindh after 22 more cases werereported in the province on Tuesday.
Sindh government spokesperson Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that 38 cases ofthe virus had been reported positive in the province and 36 were undergoingtreatment as two had been cured earlier.
He said that 274 tests of pilgrims in Sukkur had been conducted out ofwhich 140 had tested negative and 134 had tested positive.
The number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Pakistan now standsat 193.
