Pakistan s well lauded diplomatic move to unite the Muslim world

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and Turkey have decided to convene an emergencymeeting of OIC Foreign Ministers in Istanbul on Friday to discuss rootcauses of growing Islamophobia in the west.

This was announced by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi whileaddressing a news briefing in Islamabad today.

He said he contacted his Turkish counterpart and discussed the worldscenrio after the Newzealand terrorist attacks.

Foreign Minister said Turkey being chair of the council floated the idea ofconvening Foreign Ministers’ meeting and Pakistan seconded it.

During the meeting, efforts will be made to unify the Ummah and devise astrategy to know the root causes of growing Islamophobia in the West andits implications for Muslims around the world.

Foreign Minister said he will represent Pakistan at the meeting.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi says visa to the mother of ShaheedNaeem Rashid has been issued so that she can attend last rituals of her sonin New Zealand.

In a statement, he said the government is facilitating relatives ofPakistani citizens, martyred in the New Zealand terrorist attack, ingetting visa to travel to Christchurch to attend funerals of their lovedones.
