Supreme Court suspends transfer orders of former CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mehmood Dogar

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court on Friday suspended the transfer order ofLahore police chief Ghulam Mahmood Dogar and forwarded the matter to alarger bench of the apex court.

A three-member bench of the supreme court headed by Justice Ijaz ul Ahsanheard Dogar’s petition and referred the matter to a five-member bench whichis hearing a case related to transfer and posting in Punjab.

On Thursday, Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan heard the case and directed the ChiefElection Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja to provide all the recordsregarding Dogar’s transfer. The court also reconstituted the bench andadded Justice Munib Akhtar to it.

Ghulam Mahmood Dogar — a blue-eyed officer of former chief minister ParvezElahi — was removed as the city police chief by the caretakeradministration on January 23 and replaced with Bilal Siddique Kamyana.

On November 5 last year, the federal government had suspended then LahoreCCPO Dogar after an angry mob of PTI supporters staged a protest outsideGovernor House in Lahore against the assassination attempt on the party’schairman, Imran Khan.
