Kia is all set to launch its seven-seater SUVlinkSorentothis Friday. The vehicle will fall in the same category as Toyota Fortuner.
As per a recent report, KIA is finally set to debut the 3rd generationSorento SUV in Pakistan on February 19th. The launch of the SUV wasinitially planned to take place by the end of December 2020.
The long-awaited KIA Cerato sedan is also expected in Pakistan in June2021, however, no confirmation has been provided yet, reports added.
Sorento will have three variants—2.4L FWD, 2.4L AWD and 3.5L FWD.
According to the research analysts, the three variants will fall in theprice range of between Rs7 million to Rs9 million.
The analyst added that it will directly compete with Toyota Fortuner, whichcomes in 2.7L and 2.8L engines in a price range of between Rs7.7 millionand 9.2 million.
“We don’t have a direct competitor of Sorento yet,” said the analyst. “Itis a seven-seater and it has three rows of seats. It is a medium-sizecrossover SUV. It is bigger than a Rush, Sportage, or Tucson but smallerthan a Fortuner or a Prado.”
Sorento will have a better ride within the city but the Fortuner would bebetter for off-road experiences. This means that the Fortuner’s demand inrural areas may remain unaffected but the Sorento could put a dent in itsurban demand, the analyst went on to add.
Furthermore, Kia has been assembling cars in Pakistan under green-fieldstatus. The government launched the policy to attract foreign investmentand help increase competition in the auto sector, which was dominated bythree Japanese companies for a long time.
