ISLAMABAD – Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir disgruntled response after beingdropped from the Bangladesh series.
Fast bowler Mohammad Amir, after being dropped from the Pakistan squad onThursday, claimed that he was punished for retiring from Test cricket.
Amir, 27, had shocked the Pakistan cricket fraternity in 2019 when he hadquit the longest format in a bid to focus on his white-ball career.
The decision was widely unpopular, especially as the fans and formercricketers were of the opinion that he owed the national team for givingthe pacer a second chance despite his involvement and ban in a spot-fixingscandal earlier in his career.
When Misbah, in a surprising move, did not include Amir in the T20I squadfor the upcoming Bangladesh series, it created a frenzy on Twitter.
Responding to anchor Zainab Abbas’ query on the topic, he linked hisabsence from the squad with his decision to quit Test cricket, although helater deleted the tweet over the threat of repercussions such an opendisplay of dissent against the selection committee could warrant.
