The World Bank's Pakistan division has affirmed the transparency and adherence to its procurement regulations in the contract for the 765-Kv Dasu Transmission Line Project. Addressing recent media reports surrounding the contract within the Dasu-Mansehra-Islamabad transmission line project, the World Bank has explicitly stated that the contracts for the 765 KV transmission lines were meticulously procured, aligning precisely with the World Bank Procurement Regulations as outlined in the Legal Agreement inked between the World Bank and the Government of Pakistan. Notably, these contracts were granted to the bidders offering the lowest prices, affirming a commitment to cost-efficiency.

Moreover, the World Bank has underlined that it provided its no-objection based on the information furnished by the National Transmission and Despatch Company, which enabled them to proceed with the recommended pre-qualifications and awards.

Throughout the entire bidding process, formal complaints were diligently addressed, ensuring fairness and adherence to the prescribed procedures. Prior to the contract being awarded, a designated period was allotted for the resolution of procurement-related grievances, affording other bidders the opportunity to voice any concerns or objections.

In light of the information shared, it is important to note that the concerns and inquiries cited in the media do not introduce any new or additional information. In response to these allegations, the World Bank has firmly expressed its objection, deeming the accusations baseless and lacking factual basis.

Lastly, it's worth mentioning that the Senate Standing Committee on Power recently accused Country Director World Bank, Najy Benhassine, Secretary Power, and Rashid Mahmood Langrial of alleged collusion with NTDC in the awarding of a questionable contract to the German firm M/s GOPA Intec, which adds further complexity to this situation
