Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has stated that Malaysia does not agree with Western pressure to condemn Hamas for its actions in southern Israel following the recent attacks.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in a statement released on Monday, said that Malaysia does not align with Western pressure to condemn the Palestinian military group Hamas for its actions, as they already have ties with Hamas that will continue.
According to the report, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim revealed that Western and European countries have urged Malaysia to condemn Hamas in multiple meetings, but Malaysia has refused to do so.
Malaysian Prime Minister informed the Parliament, "I've said that we already have pre-existing ties with Hamas as a policy, and this relationship will continue."
In just seven days, the Israeli aggression claimed the lives of 724 children, a harrowing sight that shook hearts everywhere.
"We also do not agree with the approach of Western and European countries because Hamas achieved success through elections and was chosen by the people of Gaza for leadership."
It's worth noting that the Muslim-majority Malaysia has been a staunch supporter of the Palestinian cause, advocating for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. However, Malaysia does not maintain diplomatic relations with Israel.
The report mentions that in the past, leaders of Hamas had visited Malaysia, and they held meetings with the Malaysian Prime Minister.
Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak had opposed Israel's blockade of Gaza in 2013 and visited the Palestinian territories following an invitation from Hamas.
