Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar granted bail

KARACHI: (APP) An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Wednesday granted bail to mayor of Karachi Waseem Akhtar and leader of MQM-Pakistan in a case registered for facilitating and providing medical treatment to alleged terrorists at a hospital of PPP leader Dr. Asim.

The Court also granted bail to Abdul Qadir Patel, a leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the same case against a surety bond of Rs 500,000/ each.

Waseem Akhtar had been facing cases and was behind the bars since July 19, 2016.

Sindh High Court (SHC) in the same case had already granted bail to MQM-Pakistan leader Rauf Saddiqui, Pak SarZameen Party (PSP) leader Anees Qaimkhawni and Usman Moazzam of Pasban. However, Saleem Shahzad was pronounced as fugitive in the same case.
