ISLAMABAD: (APP) Top Countries across globe with foreign remittances for Pakistan
Pakistan has received valuable foreign exchange of US $ 14,157.65 million from Overseas Pakistanis during the current fiscal year (till March) so far.
According to the data received to the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development from State Bank of Pakistan, an amount of US $ 1,884.27 million was sent by the human resource in United States from July 2015 till March 2016.
An amount of US $ 1,758.55 million was sent by the overseas workers in United Kingdom while US $ 4,337.11 million was sent by the workers in Saudi Arabia.
The remittances of US $ 3,125.29 million were received from United Arab Emirates including US $ 2,121.86 million from Dubai, US $ 953.25 million from Abu Dhabi, US $ 48.88 million from Sharjah and US $ 1.30 million from others.
The workers in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries sent US $ 1,711.67 million remittances to the country including US $ 326.74 million from Bahrain, US $ 544.03 million from Kuwait, US $ 274.42 million from Qatar and US $ 566.48 million from Oman.
The Pakistani workforce in European countries have sent remittances of US $ 277.55 million to the country including US $ 62.38 million from Germany, US $ 22.22 million from France, US $ 3.48 million from Netherlands and US $ 37.03 million from Spain.
Among the other European countries, an amount of US $ 28.12 million remittances were received from Italy, US $ 4.78 million from Greece, US $ 10.32 million from Sweden and US $ 6.98 million from Denmark, US $ 97.20 million from Ireland and US $ 5.04 million from Belgium.
The remittances worth US $ 22.18 million received from workers in Norway, US $ 17.02 million from Switzerland, US $ 132.17 million from Australia, US $ 115.33 million from Canada, US $ 7.95 million from Japan.
While US $ 3868.94 million were contributed in the national economy of the country by the Pakistani work force serving in other countries of globe.
