KARACHI: (APP) National Council of Writers Pakistan (NCWP) formed
A National Council of Writers Pakistan (NCWP) has been formed.
This was announced by the Coordinator of the NCWR, Sibtain Raza Lodhi, here on Sunday.
Speaking at a programme of the Academy of Letters Karachi, Lodhi said that the organization was aimed at highlighting the culture, fine arts and civilization of Pakistan and bring literary and academic personalities on a single platform.
He said that the NCWR would organize programmes for the promotion of the national language as well as the regional languages and introduce talent.
The Director of the Academy of Letters, Qadir Bux Soomro, also spoke on the occasion.
Sindh Chapter of the Council was also announced on the occasion. Iqbal Sahwani was made the Coordinator of the Sindh Chapter. Azim Haider Syed as Coordinator of Karachi Chapter and Dr. Lubna Aks as Deputy Coordinator.
Lodhi said that senior journalist and Managing Director of Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), Masood Malik, has been made chairman of the NCWP.
Seminars, literary and cultural gatherings and other programmes would also be organized.
Lodhi said that in Islamabad a Writers Hall and 50 to 100 bed Writers Hall would be constructed in Islamabad for lodging of journalists and writers.
Stipends would also be arranged for financial assistance of veteran writers.
Land would be acquired for writers colonies at federal and provincial levels besides interest free loans for construction of houses.
National writers' hospital and writers group of school system would also be initiated.
