MUMBAI - A bomb alarm at Mumbai airport caused an IndiGo flight to be grounded. Flight 6E3612 was scheduled to fly to New Delhi via Lucknow at 6.05 am, when it received a call alerting the authorities of a bomb onboard.
The call was traced to a passenger who was also travelling to Delhi from Mumbai, but on another airplane.
According to the IndiGo spokesperson, a woman flying on GoAir's G8 329 approached an IndiGo check-in counter at terminal and told the on-duty officials that there was a bomb on 6E 3612. The aircraft was moved to an isolated bay immediately.
A thorough check proved the scare to be a hoax. "The flight had 169 passengers," said the spokesperson. "After the plane was vacated, security agencies thoroughly scanned the landing gear doors, cargo hold, labs and the cockpit as per protocol.
Once the anti-sabotage search schedule was completed, the officers found the warning to be a hoax and the craft was released for operations."
