FIA finds evidence against singer Meesha Shafi for running Sameer campaign against Actor Ali Zafar

ISLAMABAD – Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday has foundsinger Meesha Shafi and eight others guilty of running a smear campaignagainst singer and actor Ali Zafar on social media.

According to details, the agency’s cybercrime Lahore wing has completed theinvestigation of the case and prepared a challan, stating, “During thecourse of inquiry so far Meesha Shafi, Iffat Omar, Maham Javaid, LeenaGhani, Haseemus Zaman, Fariha Ayub, Syed Faizan Raza, Humna Raza and AliGul Pir have been found guilty as per available oral and documentaryevidences.”

FIA stated that Meesha had posted false allegations of sexual harassmentagainst Ali Zafar on April 19, 2018 as she failed to justify them orproduce any witness. Several fake social media accounts were also made tostart MeToo campaign. Over 3000 posts were posted against Ali Zafar in oneyear, the agency told.

Earlier, Ali Zafar had filed defamation suit worth Rs1 billion againstsinger Meesha Shafi over hurling harassment allegations.

Zafar’s legal counsel Tariq Rahim lodged a petition in Lahore’s sessioncourt terming Meesha’s accusations as reckless and baseless.

Later, Pakistani singer Meesha Shafi also filed a Rs2 billion defamationsuit against him in Lahore sessions court for making false allegationsagainst her.
