In a first, Pakistani Police to use Body worn cameras at checkpoints

ISLAMABAD – Islamabad Capital Territory Police has decided to use body-worncameras at checkpoints in the capital for enhanced security and betterimplementation of law and order.

Islamabad Police’s official Twitter handle shared the news earlier onMonday. According to the details, the capital Police has arranged 20cameras to start with and the footages will be connected to the Safe CityProject.

The initiative is a pilot project to test the performance of these cameras.

Islamabad Police have decided to arrange body-worn cameras for personneldeputed at police check-posts. Footage from these cameras will be connectedto the Safe City system.

If this turns out to be successful i.e. the camera resolution yieldsdesired results, it is likely that the project will be scaled up. Inresponse to a user’s tweet, Islamabad Police also told that they will alsobe installing cameras on patrol cars.——————————
