MUMBAI – A bomb alarm at Mumbai airport caused an IndiGo flight to begrounded. Flight 6E3612 was scheduled to fly to New Delhi via Lucknow at6.05 am, when it received a call alerting the authorities of a bomb onboard.
The call was traced to a passenger who was also travelling to Delhi fromMumbai, but on another airplane.
According to the IndiGo spokesperson, a woman flying on GoAir’s G8 329approached an IndiGo check-in counter at terminal and told the on-dutyofficials that there was a bomb on 6E 3612. The aircraft was moved to anisolated bay immediately.
A thorough check proved the scare to be a hoax. “The flight had 169passengers,” said the spokesperson. “After the plane was vacated, securityagencies thoroughly scanned the landing gear doors, cargo hold, labs andthe cockpit as per protocol.
Once the anti-sabotage search schedule was completed, the officers foundthe warning to be a hoax and the craft was released for operations.”
