A spokesperson for Punjab Prisons has refuted claims of any meetingsbetween international representatives and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ChairmanImran Khan in Adiala jail. This denial follows PTI President ChaudhryParvez Elahi’s earlier assertion that representatives from theInternational Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Union regularly visitImran Khan in the detention facility.
According to the Punjab Prisons’ spokesperson, there is no evidence tosupport the claim that Imran Khan met with representatives of the IMF andthe European Union in Adiala jail. The spokesperson dismissed ChaudhryPervaiz Elahi’s statement as baseless, factually incorrect, andcontradictory.
Emphasizing the lack of credibility in Elahi’s claim, the spokespersonfirmly denied the occurrence of any meeting in Adiala jail involvinginternational representatives. This denial was reinforced by stating thatsuch an event not only did not take place but is also deemed impossible.
The spokesperson highlighted the physical separation of Imran Khan andPervaiz Elahi within Adiala jail, clarifying that both are held in distinctlocations with a distance exceeding 500 meters between their respectivebarracks. Contrary to Parvez Elahi’s assertion, the spokesperson affirmedthat even Pervaiz Elahi has never had a meeting with Imran Khan in Adialajail.
In terms of access, the spokesperson asserted that only family members andlawyers have been granted permission to meet with the PTI chairman, and noother meetings with external parties, including internationalrepresentatives, have occurred. To ensure transparency, the spokespersonnoted that a detailed record of meetings with family and lawyers isconsistently maintained.
