Breaking: Sindh Government to challenge SC decision against civilian trials in military courts

The Caretaker government of Sindh has contested the Supreme Court’sdecision opposing civilian trials in military courts, as per Thursday’sreport by ARY News.

On October 23, the Supreme Court delivered a 4-1 verdict against civiliantrials in military courts, prompted by pleas, including one from PTIchairman Imran Khan, challenging the military trial of individuals involvedin the May 9 riots linked to Imran Khan’s arrest in the Al-Qadir Trustcase.

The Sindh government’s plea argues that the SC failed to review the law andcircumstances. The Sindh government has urged the superior court to suspendits verdict until a decision on the review plea, emphasizing the accused’sdemand for military court trials.

The federal government previously informed the Supreme Court about theinitiation of trials for civilians in military courts, complying with thecourt’s August 3 order, following the arrest of 102 individuals inconnection with the May 9 and 10 incidents.
