LAHORE – Sharif family gives important statement over former PM NawazSharif ECL case in the Lahore High Court.
The Sharif family on Saturday submitted a written undertaking in theLahore High Court, ensuring that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif willreturn back to the country after receiving treatment.
The two-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqir Najafi, comprising JusticeSardar Ahmad Naeem is hearing the plea filed by PML-N seeking unconditionalremoval of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s name from Exit Control List(ECL).
A handwritten affidavit was submitted by the lawyers of Nawaz Sharif andShehbaz Sharif in the court.
“The former premier will return back to the country, as soon he gets well”,the affidavit reads.
“Sharif will also face the cases registered against him.”
Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC) asked the lawyers of the Sharif familyto submit a written undertaking ensuring the return of former primeminister Nawaz Sharif will return back to the country after treatment.
The bench in its remarked said that we want a peaceful solution to thematter. The court asked, can the condition be placed for removal ofsomeone’s name from the ECL?
To this, the Additional Attorney General said Nawaz Sharif is allowed totravel abroad the treatment. “If the court was satisfied, the governmenthas no objection”, he replied.
Shehbaz Sharif said he is assuring the court that his brother will returnback to the country, as soon as he gets well.
The lawyers of the Sharif family informed the court that Shehbaz Sharif isready to give a written undertaking assuring Nawaz’s return.
