PTI government gives a blow to former PM Nawaz Sharif in the LHC ECL case

LAHORE: *PTI government gives a blow to former PM Nawaz Sharif in theLahore High Court Exit Control List case filed by the former PM NawazSharif lawyers.*

The additional attorney general (AAG) has rejected the written undertakingsubmitted by the Sharif in the Lahore High Court.

The Sharif family had submitted a written undertaking in the Lahore HighCourt, ensuring that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will return back tothe country after getting fit.

The two-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqir Najafi, comprising JusticeSardar Ahmad Naeem is hearing the plea filed by PML-N seeking unconditionalremoval of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s name from Exit Control List(ECL).

A handwritten affidavit was submitted by the lawyers of Nawaz Sharif andShehbaz Sharif in the court.

“The former premier will return back to the country, as soon he gets well”,the affidavit reads.

“Sharif will also face the cases registered against him.”

The affidavit was handed over to the government lawyers for review by thecourt. The AAG after reviewing the affidavit rejected it.

“The draft submitted by the Sharif family has legal obstacles”, the AAGsaid and added that we are making a draft for submission in the court.

Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC) asked the lawyers of the Sharif familyto submit a written undertaking ensuring the return of former primeminister Nawaz Sharif will return back to the country after treatment.

The bench in its remarked said that we want a peaceful solution to thematter. The court asked, can the condition be placed for removal ofsomeone’s name from the ECL?
