QUETTA – Pakistan’s first ever AstroTurf cricket stadium opened its doorsfor cricketers in Chaman, Balochistan on Friday.

Commander Southern Command Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa inaugurated the stadiumby playing a shot, before handing it over to the cricket association.

A friendly match between Chaman XI and Qilla Abdullah XI was also played atthe country’s first and only AstroTurf cricket stadium.

It is worth mentioning that there are AstroTurf grounds that exist inPakistan but none of them are dedicated to cricket.

The ground has three stands as of now, but the management has showninterest in expanding the stadium capacity later on.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Lt Gen Asim Bajwa said the times ofprogress had begun in Balochistan and many great cricket stars would bevisiting here soon.
