Pakistani Skipper Babar Azam asked to step down from captaincy

Former Pakistan cricket team captain, Shoaib Malik, has suggested to thecurrent skipper, Babar Azam, that he should step down from his role ascaptain and concentrate solely on his performance as a player.

Malik’s advice came in the wake of Pakistan’s poor performance againstIndia in a recent match in Ahmedabad. He emphasized that a single lossshould not be seen as the end of the world for the Pakistan team and thatit’s a time for learning and moving forward.

According to Shoaib Malik, now is the opportune moment for the Pakistancricket team to learn from this defeat and strive to make progress. Hestressed the need for awakening and highlighted that there are still eightmatches ahead, relying on the same 15 players.

Addressing the issue, he further elaborated, “Babar should relinquish thecaptaincy and focus on playing as a cricketer. I’ve made this suggestion inprevious interviews, not just because of today’s loss.”

The former captain believes that Babar, when playing as a cricketer, hasthe potential to contribute significantly to both himself and the team. Headded, “I think when Babar is in a leadership role, it limits his abilityto perform outside the conventional boundaries.”
