Prime Minister Imran Khan will formally inaugurate Pakistan’s firstindigenous cardiac stent manufacturing facility at the National Universityof Science and Technology (NUST) today.
With that, Pakistan will become the 18th country worldwide to locallymanufacture cardiac stents. Pakistan will also become the 2ndMuslim stateafter Turkey and the 2ndcountry in South Asia after India to producecardiac stents.——————————
According to Federal Minister for Science & Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, thecardiac stents developed at NUST are in line with European standards andwill save Pakistan Rs. 8 billion on its annual import bill.
He added that the local production will bring down the prices of cardiacstents in Pakistan that will ultimately benefit the heart patients.
Earlier this year in March, the Drugs Regulatory Authority of Pakistan(DRAP) had granted approval to NUST for setting up a cardiac stentmanufacturing plant.
