ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court has issued important instructions over thestatus of the Gilgit Baltistan.
SC directed the federal government to take prompt decision on grantingprovisional provincial status to Gilgit-Balistan in line with therecommendations of the special committee for constitutional andadministrative reforms in G-B.
A seven-judge larger bench, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, tookup 32 cases concerning the region’s constitutional status.
The main constitutional petition was filed by the GB Bar Council throughits vice-chairman Javed Ahmed.
A member of bench wondered if India is giving special status to Kashmir byamending Article 370 of its constitution, why could Pakistan not grantprovisional provincial status to GB.
