KABUL – Afghanistan Samangan’s police security chief, General KhawaniTahari has been killed in Afghanistan.
He was killed on Monday night in a clash with Taliban in Darah Sof Payandistrict of the province, Samangan police said Tuesday, TOLO news hasreported.
According to the police six soldiers were killed and three other soldierswere wounded in the clash.
Mohammad Monir Rahimi Samangan’s police spokesman said that the clashstarted Monday night in Zerki village of Darah Sof Payan district of theprovince.
According to Rahimi during the clash 14 Taliban insurgents were killed and16 others were wounded.
However, local sources told TOLOnews that Taliban have taken a number ofsecurity forces hostage, but the spokesman did not confirm this.
Taliban claimed responsibility.
