Pakistan lost opportunity of 8 billion confirmed foreign investment

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade’s efforts to implement49 MoUs (Memoranda of Understanding) with foreign and local investorsduring the Dubai Expo 18 months ago have proven unsuccessful.

As a result, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lost out on a $8 billion investment.According to official documents, during the Dubai Expo on January 16, 2022,the provincial government had signed MoUs on investment in sectors likeinfrastructure, energy, special economic zones, and tourism.

However, there has been a lack of interest from provincial authorities infulfilling the promises made in these MoUs. Therefore, Khyber Pakhtunkhwahas been unable to secure the promised investment from the 49 MoUs of theDubai Expo Investment Conference.

The committee formed under the leadership of the Additional Chief Secretaryfor the implementation of these MoUs has also remained limited in itsactivities, holding only a few meetings
