Pakistan Afghanistan take much awaited decision in the right direction

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Afghanistan take much awaited decision in the rightdirection by round the clock opening of Torkham border.

The economic decision has started showing increasing in bilateral tradebetween Pakistan and Afghanistan, registering significant increase inimports and exporters between the two neighbouring countries.

“During the last eight days when the Torkham border is opened round theclock, around 100 percent increase in imports and a significant increase inexports have been registered,” said Collector Customs Appraisement, EhsanAli Shah.

Talking to media men, Collector Customs said credit for this goes to PrimeMinister, Imran Khan who announced to open historic Torkham border roundthe clock with the objective of improving trade between the two countriesbesides facilitation of businessmen of the region.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will soon perform formal inauguration of 24 hoursopening of Torkham border within a couple of days.

Sharing details about increase in trade, Collector Customs Ehsan Ali Shahsaid during last one week the bilateral trade has registered a hike of Rs.35 million, showing an increase from Rs. 120 million to Rs. 155 million.

Similarly, he continued, passage of goods carrying trucks between Pakistanand Afghanistan via Torkham has been increased from 700 to 1600.
