TEHRAN – Iranian government breaks silence against Indian act of OccupiedKashmir lockdown in talks with India.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has expressed serious concernover the situation in the Indian-controlled Kashmir region.
Zarif made the comments in a Sunday meeting with Indian Foreign SecretaryShri Vijay Gokhale, who is in Tehran to attend the 16th round of politicalconsultations between the two countries’ foreign ministries.
Zarif also expressed hope that the situation would improve in the region.
Muslim-majority Kashmir, claimed by both India and Pakistan, has been inturmoil since India stripped its portion of the region of its autonomy andstatehood on August 5, leading to clashes between security forces andresidents and inflaming tension with Pakistan.
