In a first, Israeli Military airstrike destroy Iranian plane: Arab media

DAMASCUS – Israeli forces destroyed an Iranian Boeing plane at the DamascusInternational Airport on Saturday.

The Israeli missile strike on the Damascus international airport reportedlytargeted an Iranian plane delivering weapons for pro-Assad forces andRevolutionary Guards units fighting in the country’s civil war.

Israel’s Channel 2 reported that Israeli jets also hit weapon stores at theairport hangars.

The Syrian News Agency (SANA) confirmed that Israel bombed the Damascusairport on Saturday evening.

Earlier this month, Israel acknowledged having carried out more than 200strikes in Syria over the past 18 months, mainly against Iranian targets.

The last reported Israeli strikes on Syria took place on September 4, whenSyrian state media said the military’s air defences downed several missilesin the coastal province of Tartus and in central Hama.

Those raids reportedly killed three Syrian soldiers.
